Glossary
To maintain the ancient Hebrew flavor of the books, we use many terms transliterated from their original Hebrew rather than translated into English. This is particularly true of names: the English names of most Biblical characters and places have been translated at least twice — from Hebrew to Greek to English. The city we call Jerusalem is pronounced Yerushalayim in Hebrew; in fact, there is no “J” sound in ancient Hebrew at all.
